Stumpier than I thought

This is my 100th published posting!! Woo hoo! Plus, I'm almost to my one year blog-i-versary (or however you spell it). I think I'm finally starting to post consistently too. Gold star!

I went full out Southern girl for this title! It's the shortened version of "this outfit makes me look a lot stumpier than I thought I was." Stumpier, for those of you not in the know, means shorter and a little wider. I'm trying to wear my white pants a lot this summer since, you know, you can't wear them after Labor Day (which is way too rapidly approaching). I usually wear them with a longer top, but I thought this might be a good pairing. I feel kind of meh about it. The tank top seems to cut me off at a wide part of my body, plus it felt really, really low cut all day. I think it just bought itself a ticket to thriftdom...

Would You Wear That Wednesday: Denim Vest

As a Southerner, I feel like I should like this. This just seems Southern. But the truth is, I don't like denim vests at all. I'm not a huge vest person anyway, but there's just something about a denim vest that annoys me. I think I have an idea that a denim jacket is a cute layering piece that make summery dresses seem a little more substantial...or warmer. A denim vest just doesn't give me that impression. I haven't tried one on, so I'm not sure how it would actually look on me, so I may be completely wrong. I've seen it look decent on other bloggers, but it's just not my personal taste or style preference.

Weigh in: would you wear a denim vest, and if so, how would you style it?

Neon and Blahs

We just had some crazy flash flooding yesterday, and there's more rain in the forecast for tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. Combine that with a trying couple of weeks at work, not feeling my greatest, and having our mailbox knocked down last night, I've got a major case of the blahs. Even my outfit has the blahs today (and what's up with the shiny shorts?!?). At least I have on my children's department neon shoes to help give me a bit of color. That second link is kind of gratuitous, but I had to show that they're really girl's shoes. I got them on clearance though so that makes them even better. Score one for the shoes.

Hope everyone has a wonderful, non-blah weekend. If anyone needs me, I'll be helping my husband enclose our new mailbox in cement...

Would You Wear That Wednesday: Ruffled Swimsuit

Welcome to my first "Would You Wear That Wednesday" feature. I want to post more regularly on here, but I don't always take the best any outfit pictures sometimes, so I wasn't sure what to do. I read a post on the Independent Fashion Bloggers blog about catchy post titles, and one of their suggestions was a "Would You Wear [Trend]". I loved that idea, so without further adieu, here's my first item:

Personally, I would not wear this for a few reasons. I tend to be more of a tankini and boy shorts or board shorts kind of gal. I've never really liked one pieces. Also, since I've gained marriage weight, I don't think this style would be very flattering on me. I think the ruffles would be good for someone with a straighter figure since they could add some depth and visual interest to a top half. A chesty girl would have a harder time with the suit's enhancements.

And, confession, I didn't wear those shoes today! Those were my wedding shoes, and I barely even made it down the aisle in them; I wouldn't have made it an entire workday! Here's what I really wore:

Those are new shoes, but they came from returning some birthday gifts, so I didn't break my "stopping shopping" resolution.

Knotty Stripes

I've been on a pun kick lately! Today, I got my inspiration for my outfit from the colors in my shoes! I always try to be kind of matchy-matchy with these shoes, and as I stood in my closet trying to find an outfit, this look came together. I didn't get a good shoe shot today, but if you want to see the colors in them, check out the picture of them in Go Chic or Go Home. Also, since I talked about my stopping shopping and wearing all of my clothes on Wednesday, I wanted to wear a couple of things that haven't seen the light of day in a long time. Despite fighting with this cardigan some today, I liked this look!

My hair seems really cooperative here!

At least this way, you get to see three of the different wall colors that the renters before us chose. That's three out of the nine colors that are on our walls. Sometimes I feel like I live in a puddle of clown vomit...
